In Year 6, pupils are asked to take on a range of responsibilities which help them prepare for life beyond primary school. Head Girl, Head Boy and Prefect are three of these roles.
At the beginning of the year, they decide which responsibility they would be most suited for and write a speech outlining the qualities they have which make them best suited to the role. Pupils then stand up at a whole school assembly and deliver their speeches to all their school friends. Each child votes on their favoured candidate.
These roles mean pupils set an example to the rest of the school, demonstrating the high expectations of behaviour and values which we have here at Ditton Lodge.
Pupils also model the key British Value of mutual respect, for ourselves, each other and visitors into school. They represent the school in various ways, from interviewing potential members of staff to reading prayers at end of term services. They take their roles very seriously indeed.
